PREP - CLEAN UP STANDARDS AND METHODS

In all cases, a clean surface is mandatory. The surface conditions will dictate the method chosen.

METHODS:
1. Stiff bristle push broom and blower
2. Pressure wash
3. Push broom with water
4. Tri Sodium Phosphate wash/clear water rinse

EXAMPLES

Water should be avoided on any roof with known leaks. Use only method #1 until dust and debris is not evident. A foam roof should always be cleaned in this manner when any surface imperfections are evident.

Pitched roofs, 3 tab shingles, gravel roofs (with loose gravel removed) should be cleaned by method #2, #3, or #4.

Metal roofs will require an extra step to remove oxidation on weathered surfaces or residual oils on new metal. mop on a vinegar solution; 1 part vinegar to 1 part water. Let stand and maintain the wet surface approximately 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. Allow the surface ample drying time before proceeding with primer or roof coating.
